The anniversary of the end of World War II

The redbrick Tokyo Station building has reopened to return the iconic landmark to the original look dating back to some 100 years ago.

The three story building with two domes was orginally designed by leading Japanese architect Kingo Tatsuno and was built in 1914.The third floor and the domes of the original building were destroyed by U.S. air raids in 1945.

2011年10月1日　東京駅の丸の内駅舎は、およそ5年にわたる保存・復元工事で、1945年のアメリカによる大空襲で焼失した3階部分とドーム型の屋根が復活するなど1914年に建築された当時の姿によみがえりました。
